"To act in solidarity with others for a more just world"
Since 2011 a group of 5th Year students have taken part in a Development World Immersion as part of our social action programme. By "Being with" the communities in Kenya and / or India and reflecting on that experience in the light of the Gospel message, students will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of their Christian faith, to grow in their own sense of God and to increase their commitment and capacity to work for real change in our world today.
This year fifteen students accompanied by three staff members will travel to Kolkata, India to live and work with the Christian Brother community in St. George's School, Bow Bazar from 11th - 23rd February, 2017. They have undertaken an active and creative educational process to increase their awareness and understanding of the world we live in. They have engaged in a process of interaction, reflection and action. As part of this action project they have carried out an extensive fundraising programme. Together they have raised in excess of 20,000 euro and all proceeds with go directly towards education for the poor in Kolkata.
Through this blog you can follow their journey with them each day.
